The tune is traditional Irish. I wrote the lyrics about the Irish legend of the wild geese. After the siege of Limerick in 1691, the defeated Irish set sail for France. As part of their surrender, they could never return. When they died, their souls flew back to Ireland as wild geese. From my "Blue Moonlight" CD.
